The Fullife Foundation recently built two facilities in Ethiopia which will help reduce maternal deaths
“We have built two maternal waiting rooms (through World Vision) in Samre, Ethiopia that will service a population of 60,000, and allow women to come in for a safe, assisted birth, thereby reducing the maternal death rate,” says Ian Shanks, director of Fullife Pharmacies and the Fullife Foundation.
“The funding came from Pharmacy Alliance Partner pharmacies, and also individual donors.”
The project, which cost nearly $59,000, was recently opened by Mr Shanks and fellow Fullife Foundation director Michelle Bou-Samra, who travelled to Ethiopia this year.
Mr Shanks says the Foundation is encouraging Australian pharmacies to put its donation boxes in stores. More than 100 pharmacies currently support the brand’s partner program.
